May 2017
Once again I have fallen even further behind, as the thought of getting caught up is overwhelming and daunting. But with God's help I know I will be able to document our fun adventures! Please know that I am so proud of BOTH of you and my love runs deep!
We helped celebrate Wyatt's 12th birthday at Altitude Trampoline Park. It was fun to meet some of his school friends!
The competition took place on May 6, 2017, at Berkner High School. The students competed in four separate events: literature, social studies, math, science, a Super Quiz based on the theme, and an essay based on the novel, Hook’s Revenge by Heidi Schulz.
.Through our church we partnered with International Friendship who matched us with an international student from the University of Texas-Dallas. We took them out to dinner or brought them to our home and shared a meal at least once a month. We actually had two students, but we were only invited to one of their graduations. They were both from India and it was fascinating to learn about their class system. One was from a privileged class and the other was from a working or lower class system. We learned about how their cultural also believes in arranged marriages. We were also humbled by the vast difference in our standard of living here in America compared to India. Our home was thought to be huge to them - they asked the question "Is it only one family that lives here?"
My heart is saddened to say that Grandma Wieland passed away this month. You guys were there with her in the hospital with Dad, but when it got to much for your Dad, he called me and we met in Kansas City to drive home. The picture above and below is a picture of you guys flying ALL BY YOURSELVES to Nebraska to go to Grandma's funeral. We will miss her laugh, hugs, cookies, and most of all her unconditional love! She was the best listening too. She will always be close to us in our hearts and memories.
Zylie didn't want you to go!
At the end of the year, Zayne you were presented the Determination Award! You are so determined to do all things and we were so proud of you! Look at that smile! You conquered a lot of things this year, reading, writing, and math! You rocked it!
And we also had our awards ceremony for AWANA's. Zayne you started your first year of Sparks this year and Zachery you started your first year of T&T. I am so proud of you both for dedicating your lives to God and developing a relationship with Him. I love hearing your prayers and memorizing scripture. Yes, Jesus is a gift to us but His Word is also a gift to us so we can get to know Him.
