So as most of you might know we had to do re-do our bathroom, if you have't heard I will tell the little story. The other week on a Monday afternoon Zachery and I were playing football in the backyard (yes, it was beautiful outside probably around 60 degrees). Charlie came out and said, I am going to try and chip away at the grout in the bathroom and see if I can replace it (in order to improve our bathroom). We had one wall, which was under the window that is in the shower area that was bowing out due to water seeping in through cracks in the tile and grout. About 20 minutes later Charlie comes out with his thumb wrapped saying "Please don't be mad at me". I think my first concern was, do we need to go to the emergency room? He said no it is just a little "flesh wound" ... as we ventured to the bathroom, the wall that I just described had several tiles missing. Charlie said that the plaster behind the tile was so wet that he can't get anything to stick back on it. Needless to say we had an emergency on our hands, it is our only shower! Luckily we had thought about redoing the bathroom back in April of 2009, so we had the name of the tile man that we were going to use. Charlie called him up and the tile man said that he was free the rest of the week and would come out the very next day. Well the bathroom was demolished on Tuesday. The new tile was installed on Thursday. And the grout and new flooring were installed on Friday. Charlie sealed everything on Sunday. We textured on Friday night, re-painted on Saturday and Sunday. And our plumbers were back out on Tuesday to reconnect our water so we could take a shower!! When they were taking the old vanity out they discovered a small leak in one of the water lines. We are so grateful that the leak was found, that wall is the same wall where the baby's crib is ...
A special thanks has to go out to our friends who allowed us to take a shower at their house and thank you to the ones that offered!!
The vanity and mirror took the longest to find. We still have the doors to the cabinet to special order and the bathtub to be resurfaced, but we will not be able to do those two things until March or April. I just have to say after looking at the bathroom now, what was I thinking painting the old bathroom yellow! The green tile that you see on the former vanity circled the bathroom...if you can imagine.
