OCTOBER 2016

OCTOBER 2016

Fall baseball is in full swing this month! Zachery continues to play with the Diamondbacks and appears to have secured the shortstop position.  He enjoys hanging out and playing with his friends most of all in regards to baseball.  Zayne is still a little young to "secure" a position but he did play first base alot this season with the Rangers.  He has been hitting pretty good too.  We decided to hire a private coach for Zachery, who allowed Zayne to tag along, to develop his fundamentals.  Because as everyone knows, if you don't have the fundamentals down it is hard to move forward.  Anyways, it didn't last very long because Zach didn't like having a private coach since his friends weren't there.  Needless to say, I have been struggling with this! I am trying to understand where he is coming from ... I think someone put it this way recently "if you are baking a cake and you don't have all the ingredients, then you can't bake a cake".  Anyways, it made sense to me and I am trying to layoff .... a little. :)

Oh, I almost forgot, Zachery decided to try-out for the Lone-Star Challenge team at Northwood Hills Elementary. We will find out next month, I think, if he made it!

"The Lone Star Challenge (LSC) program is designed to enhance elementary students in their mastery of the STAAR testing program. The Lone Star Challenge program allows fourth, fifth and sixth-grade students to test in their home school or district, eliminating the need for travel accommodations with this younger age group. Teams are ranked statewide, and competitors can win team and individual medals for their efforts. Costs of this program are minimal, as this program is designed to serve as a learning experience and feeder program for the Pentathlon, Octathlon and Decathlon competitions. Study materials are purchased through the Decathlon state office."

BUDDY WALK

As most of you know, Zachery and Zayne's baby sister was born with Down Syndrome. One of fundraisers for the organization that we below to is the BuddyWalk.  So this was our first year participating and we had a blast! We actually had a sponsor that purchased t-shirts for everyone to wear and we had a wonderful turn out!! Our team name is Zylie Zoo.

Charlie's sister flew down to be apart of our fun adventure! We planned Five Crowns the night before and Zylie was able to hangout with them for a little bit Saturday morning so mom could go for a run! Oh yes, even though it was a mile walk, Zayne still had to go to the bathroom right in the middle of it! Haha!!

SEPTEMBER 2016

SEPTEMBER 2016

Another football game and another opportunity to be down on the field!  Baseball will be starting up this month and AWANAs has started too.  So we are almost full swing into all our activities.

Zayne has a very sweet and tender heart! He loves to write notes and I think he loves to receive them too.  So if you want a way into his heart, write him notes! He loves it!!

"I love you.  I love our special places.  Love Zayne"

We dropped Allison off at the airport to fly to Utah State for a college visit.  We asked her Grandparents to take her around, which I think was awesome!! Zayne didn't want to see her go ... so we needed to take a picture.

Just a silly picture in the car!

AUGUST 2017

AUGUST 2017

Zayne and Zylie hanging out on mommy's bed! So cuddly and cute!

We love our Lego's! Especially Star Ward Lego's!! Zachery has always loved General Grievous.

Zayne and Boba Fett.

Just hanging out with baby Zylie!
Right before school started, Allison to the boys to the Jack Carter Pool (a public pool in Plano, Texas) and they had a cool wake board "ride".  I think Allison said he "wiped-out" after the picture was taken.  Ha! They had a blast, of course!!

The boys and their daddy get Sixth Flag Season passes and this year, the boys wanted to take Jay and I on friends day.  Zayne and I were able to sneak off and ride a few rides while Jay and Zachery waited at the Batman ride.

First day of Fourth Grade at Northwood Hills Elementary, hot stuff!

Zachery and his friend Senay on the first day of 4th Grade!

Zayne at his First Grade Desk!! He is sitting next to his friend Helen.  Zayne was very nervous to go to school and we were actually in tears ALOT throughout the first couple of months.  He even had a migraine the first week of school, bless his heart!!

Zayne at his new locker!

WITH SCHOOL COME FOOTBALL SEASON

With the first day of school, comes Richardson High School Football Season.  This is their step-sisters, Senior Year so we are making a point to go to more football games, since she is an athletic trainer.  If you look closely you can see her with a purple shirt, blonde hair high-fiving Zachery in the pictures below.  The boys were able to run out on the field through the "tunnel" in front of the football team this year!! Then of-course we can't go a game (or a day) without taking a picture with our baby sister!!

JULY 2016

July was the busiest month of the summer!

IOWA

The boys went back home to Iowa to visit Charlie's family for a week at the beginning of July.  They had a blast helping Grandma clean windows and visit cousins on their farm and play with their nephews!  Seriously, the boys are growing up way to fast!! Zachery is going to be taller than Grandma within the year ...  Ha! Look at that bed hair! We try and comb it, but nothing really helps.  Zayne and Zachery both get so sweaty throughout the day their hair always look messy.  We love dogs!  The boys wish I would get another dog, but I remember all the work behind having a dog (or two).  It wasn't fun! Anyways, I tell them that they can have a pet when they go off to college :)

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We normally miss out on Vacation Bible School each year, but we were actually able to make it this year!! Their sister, Allison, helped me get them there and pick them up ... we went to Family Night on Thursday night and the boys were able to sing along to their favorite songs as a group of kids told us what they learned that week.  It was fun!  The theme of the week was Submerged.  So when I trimmed the video's of the boys singing and dancing ... the music was cut out of the videos.  But the dancing is still entertaining!

JACKSON HOLE, WY

A few years ago we were able to bid and won a beautiful cabin to stay in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  We were finally able to schedule a family vacation this summer.  We rented a "conversion" van, which is just a fancy word for a van that has four captain chairs, a 32" television with a satellite and blue-ray DVD player.  The kids were set and I guess us parents were set for the LONG 20 hours drive to Jackson Hole, WY!! Jay and I drove through the night to Estates Park, CO the first night (we are NOT 20 anymore, that was VERY difficult .... every time we stopped to take a short nap Zylie would wake up and we would have to keep going).  Ha! So we were able to check into our hotel room early and take a much needed nap ... that evening the decorative trim piece on the van stuck onto the concrete curb and it pulled away from the van ... you will see a picture of us duck-taping (with white Duck tape) the decorative trim onto the bumper.  Needless to say it didn't seem to be the best start to our vacation.  The road that we were suppose to take to our cabin, was closed due to a forest fire, therefore, we had to go on a 3-4 hour detour.  Ha! The tension in the van was increasing ... "are we there yet?" "how much longer" ... We honestly had no idea when we were going to get there!

Fun crafts, to help make the time pass-by faster!

Finally we arrived, was able to scramble food together let the kids pick their rooms and put everyone to bed! I thought this trip we will "just wing it" ... do what we feel like doing each day, instead of planning each day for the family.  Seriously, that didn't work very well! I found out quickly, EVERYONE works better with a plan, including mom! So we attempted to investigate Warm Springs, which was actually closed to swimmers due to a bacteria outbreak ... so we ventured to the nearby streams to take a dip.  We spent a long day in Yellowstone State Park, where we say a black bear, roaming buffalo, Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces, and waterfalls.  Side story here: Caution, Zayne can NOT have full loaded Gatorade!! Especially in a moving van that you have been in all day ... he will throw-up!

The next day we spent the whole day at the Jackson Hole Ski Resort were we enjoyed the rope course, taking a tram ride to view of the Grand Tetons (getting caught in a hail storm), bungee jumping (on a trampoline) and enjoying a nice picnic lunch in a play area!!

We took a boat across a lake to hike to Inspiration Point, the next morning.  Then that evening we enjoyed a picnic dinner at a very cool park in downtown Jackson Hole, then ventured over to the Snow King Ski Resort where we literally raced down from the top of a ski run in a sled like cart to the bottom (it was called the Alpine Slide or maybe the Cowboy Coaster).  This was probably the highlight of the boys' trip!! It was truly alot of fun!!

The boys at the cabin, playing with a camera!
The boys outside the cabin, playing int he forest.

The finally day before we left to drive the long trip home was spent in downtown Jackson Hole, WY.  Looking at all the fun shops and touring through museums. All-in-all, we can't wait to visit again!

Duck-taping the decorative to the bumper in Colorado!! Ha!

SWIMMING
We actually decided to join a community swim team for the summer, through the City of Richardson.  The boys actually had a blast and found a joy for swimming again!  As you can see, they won alot of awards!! It was fun!!

AROUND THE HOUSE
You can't deny, the boys love their baby sister, Zylie.  I mean look at that smile Zylie is giving her brother Zayne.  So sweet! They really are good big brothers, it has been fun to see them interact with her and encourage her to do her best!! I am so thankful for how supportive and encouraging Zachery and Zayne both are toward their sister.  PROUD BIG BROTHERS!
