JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2013

JANUARY 2013

It is always a challenge to settle back into the routine of school, sports, AWANAs, etc. after the Holiday's, but we did! Zachery has settled back into our home school routine.  Prior to the Holiday's I gave him a Unit Test for Phonics and he forgot to do one problem and misspelled one word and as I am correcting it he is literally in hysterics because he got a 97.  I was trying so hard not laugh! I kept asking why he was so upset he did GREAT! He said "I wanted a 100%".  Needless to say I think he is overly tired, Day Light Savings Time was rough on him ... He continues to attend a CO-OP on Tuesdays for Kindergarten and is doing very well! This month they are studying animals that hibernate.  My next door neighbor Mrs. Gypsy, who has two boys of her own and are exactly one year older than Zach and Zayne, has graciously offered to watch the boys on Thursdays and Friday's while I work.  What has been GREAT for them is that she doesn't speak English in the home strictly Spanish.  I am so excited that they will be learning a foreign language.  So far it seems to be going well.

Zachery is playing basketball this winter and doing very well! It has been fun to watch him mature mentally and physically on the court.  This season the realization of guarding his "guy" was revolutionary to his game! At the beginning of every game the teams and their players are announced over the loud speaker and they get to run through a "shoot" as fast as they can, just like the NBA Players do at the beginning of their games.  The video below is a perfect example.

We have spent alot of time outside playing on our skate boards, just getting the feel of them, not necessarily riding them.  But standing and spinning and jumping on and off them.  Zachery has tried the skateboard but is truly more interested in the bicycle at this point.

Little Pants (a.k.a., Zayne) is just as adorable as ever, running around making new friends where ever he goes! He has such an attractive and influencing personality.  He truly brings joy and energy to so many!! We have been attempting to potty train and he is frequently saying "don't watch me poop mommy!" so of course he has his privacy.  But if I have to clean the toilette out one more time because he uses the whole roll of paper to wipe his bottom, I don't think the privacy thing will fly!! I absolutely love our little snuggle time in the morning, which occurs typically around 5:30am.  Just this morning he was praying to God "thank you God for the fan, as he was looking up at the ceiling, thank you God for my toys, thank you God for my food". Then he started all over saying a few others things that he was thankful for!  I am so thankful for him and his brother!! Thank you God for blessing me with two boys that are beautiful!!

FEBRUARY 2013

Not much to report during the month of February other than we went bowling, which was a BLAST! Zachery is really doing well with getting the ball down the lane! Back in the beginning of December I decided to sign up for the Cowtown Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas ... just to help me keep motivated in my training! Anyways, that race was in the middle of the month ... I finished and was actually able to smile at the end of the race! It hurt and my time wasn't my best, but it gives me a place to start as triathlon season is fast approaching.  Also, I just received a phone call from my brother and father regarding a plan for my mom to stay in the States while my dad sails their sailboat back across the Pacific Ocean.  So it looks like my mom will be coming to stay with us for about 6 weeks starting in March! We are so excited!!
