June 2011

Well the pictures did not upload in the correct order, but hopefully you will understand which picture is associated with each activity. I thought it might be better/easier to read one post versus several. Anyways, sorry it has taken me so long to update our website. And we have been horrible about taking pictures this month too!

LEGO LAND
We went to Lego Land in June, at least I think it was in June, anyways it just opened here in the DFW area and we were super excited to go. So we had two firsts that day, Zachery had his first sleepover and it was our first time going to Lego Land. The boys picked me up at work and we headed straight to Lego Land, it was raining that day and of course I do not own an umbrella (I grew up in WA we wore rain slickers most of the time or were just wet). So we raced into Lego Land barefoot. There is a short "factory" tour at the beginning where they tell the kids how Lego's are made. Then we ride a very short ride where you are allowed to "shoot" the "bad guys" with laser guns. Zayne and Zach's friend had a blast, but Zachery got scared after the first turn. Needless to say if we go back we will not be riding that ride again. Other than that there was a huge play area where kids could climb and slide; a miniature Lego replica of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area (which was amazing!); a karaoke area (where Zayne spent most of his time, as you can see from the photo below); an area where kids could build box cars and race them down ramps; another ride (which we didn't go on); an area where you could build a building out of Lego's, press a button and see if it falls down; and a couple of areas that kids could just build with Lego's. We had a blast!

SID THE SCIENCE KID
This year we decided to get two memberships, one to the Zoo and one to the Science Museum. Well Sid the Science Kid came into town and it was for members only. We learned about energy by experiments, I think Zachery had a blast. At the Science Museum they have a wonderful children's area, which I think I have discussed before. Some of the photos are from the different areas, the fire truck, the water area, the climbing wall, sand area. It was a great day!

AROUND THE HOUSE
We are truly kept busy with watching Zayne. The kid doesn't know how to relax or sit down. Just yesterday, I found him standing on the tank of the toilette, seriously Zayne you are going to fall one of these days!! Yes, he is a climber and has no fear! I took the boys swimming the other day, as Zachery and his two new friends were jumping off the side of the pool, Zayne of course wanted to follow. But he can't just jump off frontwards he also has to jump off backwards. Just this morning Zachery was pushing Zayne in the swing, pretty high I have to say, and he was just laughing thinking that it was the best time ever! I think he is ready for the roller coaster already!! One more story about Zayne (yes about climbing). Our electricity was out for a day a couple of weeks ago, so Charlie put some of the items from our refrigerator into the cooler and placed the cooler adjacent to the deep freezer, which is adjacent to our refrigerator. Well you can guess, we turned our backs for one moment and he was on top of the deep freezer laughing and jumping and reaching to the refrigerator thinking he was going to be able to climb on top of that. I mean all we can do is laugh, but he really is going to fall one of these days! He doesn't say much more than "Dis", but we are working on it. He understands a lot and picks up on things very quickly, but he really hasn't "picked up" on talking.

Zachery is doing great! Our next door neighbor gave Zachery a bicycle to practice on before we purchase one. He loves it! We bought him a helmet last night and this morning as I was out weeding he went and got his helmet and gloves on so he could ride his bike up and down the sidewalk. He is a wonderful older brother, very quick to help with telling him "no" or help direct Zayne in the right direction. He loves on him, which is sweet to see. Let's see Zachery has started reading the BOB books, which has been absolutely amazing!! I have loved watching him put things together. Now we just need to work on counting!! I truly love how the mind of a four year old works. As I was weeding this morning we saw a moth, which he thought was a butterfly, and once he believed that it wasn't butterfly but a moth he started asking questions (like what do moths eat [I think they eat leaves] and do we like moths [yes they have their purpose]) ... after answering these questions he said "Well the moth can help you weed and you can play with me". Totally makes sense right!! Or the other day when I told Zachery our plan for the day, as we were driving to the Museum, "OK, we are going to go to the Science Museum, then we are going to go home and drop Zayne off so he can take a nap, then we need to go to Target to get Daddy a Father's Day card, then we will go swimming", Zachery (after a little bit) "After Father's Day will it be Kids Day?", as I was laughing (and the rest of the car started laughing) "Kids Day? It is Kids Day everyday", Zachery "Well then can I get a new toy?". LOL!! I have tons of these stories ... I just wish I could remember them. Note to self, write them down! Zachery is so wanting to learn to swim this summer, which really has been exciting to see ... I just wish I had more time to look into swim programs!

ORGANIC GARDEN
Well our garden is growing!! The broccoli looks a little "beaten" down, but the carrots, tomatoes, and green peppers are doing GREAT! We have harvested a couple of times now and have made eggs and green peppers with our produce, yummy!! We actually give our tomatoes away ... no one in this family really likes them.

T-BALL
I am sad to say that I missed the last game of the season, it was very hot that day! Anyways, I think they had a GREAT time and we met some really neat people, I think that we will probably do soccer through this association next year. It is a little expensive, but the people and coaching is so much better than our experience with the YMCA.

Well hopefully I will be better about getting things on the blog faster this month!!
